"Drawn Lines"

Drawn Lines is a series of one-of-a-kind compositions on clay surfaces, using under-glaze, glaze, and glaze pencil. The artist, James Aarons, is no stranger to Idyllwild, having won Best of Show in the Art Alliance of Idyllwild's Member's Show in 2007. His interest here is in the vibration of simple, side-by-side shapes and pared-down forms, including lines, leaves, vessels and squares. The intensity of lines creates an illusion of tonal change, shadow, and dimensionality. In this show, his work pulls from nature and urban structure, re-inventing these influences in spare, personal ways.
