Artist of the Month
Melanie Leppla
The Idyllwild Gallery of Fine Art presents the work of Melanie Guernsey Leppla, whose original designs in hand-blown glass are distinguished by great attention to detail, combined with a delightful, lighthearted sensibility.
In her own words....
“I always strive to create original designs that are technically challenging, yet fun for me to produce. I enjoy making pieces of visual interest that are also a pleasure to use. I fell use honors the work I make”
From first gather to the finished product, all of the artist’s glass lanterns are entirely hand crafted.
Leppla has studied at the Pilchuck School of Glass with glass masters Dan Dailey and Fritz Dreisbach. She has been an instructor at Horizons School of Crafts in Massachusetts, and the Tokyo Glass Art Institute in Japan. She was honored with Fellowship Grants from the New Jersey State Council of the Arts and the Creative Glass Center of America.
